A Micro-Projector With Kingdom Implications?

Micro ProjectorWe’re getting closer to a time when we will be able to pull out our cellular phones in the missions field and podcast a drama onto somebody’s wall and get people saved.  This micro-projector, known as “Micro SD Card Projector” is just the first push of the industry to micro size projection technology.  It’s available for about $200.

I’ll pose the same question that I always ask about new and emerging technology:  How can we use this for the Kingdom.  I say we already know how powerful drama can be for breaking cross-cultural barriers such as language.  Now, with this technology, you could actually record the drama in the US and take it abroad on your cell phone.  Get an entire village saved without a drama team?  It could happen.  Keep an eye out for improvements on this technology.  The ball is rolling.

The Lakeland Outpouring: Three Unprecedented Uses of Technology

Todd BentleyAnybody who’s tuned into the Lakeland Outpouring has undoubtedly noticed the unprecedented use of technology in that incredible move of the spirit.  To the best of my knowledge, they have used at least three mediums that have never before been utilized in a prolonged revival.

These folks are pushing the envelope and creatively using their voice to change the world.  Here are three ways that they’ve gone where no revival has ever gone before:

1) Streaming video. You can tune in at any time during any service and see live what’s happening at the Lakeland Outpouring by visiting this site.  My experience with this live video stream as a believer filled with the Holy Spirit has been that the tangible anointing of the Lord has flowed from Lakeland, through the internet, and into my living room.  It’s an incredible use of technology.

2) Cellular Phones. These folks actually asked those who attended the revival to utilize their cell phones, call somebody in need of a miracle, and pray for them.  The next day, testimonies began to pour in of people who had been miraculously healed from continents away.  I am more than remotely aware of how insane that sounds, but I totally believe that the Lord is leveraging this technology to transform the world as we know it and show Himself strong.

3) Chat Rooms. I’ve seen chat rooms used for all sorts of evil purposes, but until recently I had only seen it used in Christian circles for the purpose of general discussion.  In the Lakeland Outpouring, chat rooms are being used for powerful, life-changing intercessory prayer.  Hundreds and thousands of people are logging on, praying in agreement with the work of the Lord in Lakeland, and confirming miracles in their own lives.

I can’t wait to see what else the Lord can do through social media.  I believe that a time is coming when people will be healed through reading blog articles.  I believe that people will be saved by following me on twitter.  My God.  The possibilities are endless.

The Streaming Anointing: The Call in Jerusalem

JerusalemWe make lip service about using technology for the cause of Christ, but we often fail to follow through.  I wanted to post a testimony about the wonderful use of live streaming video that occurred in our church today.

We tuned in to The Call Live in Jerusalem during our corporate worship this morning.  As we went live to the streaming video on the big screen, the Lord showed up and began to move in a mighty way among us in the midst of the corporate anointing from prayer in the body of Christ.

We joined with our brothers and sisters in Christ all the way from Jerusalem, and the power of God became manifest.  Several of our young people were baptized with the Holy Spirit.  Several more were touched in a very personal way by the Lord.  We stood in awe as the Lord poured out his power in prophetic worship in Jerusalem.

Think about how amazing it is that we even had this opportunity that, until several years ago, wouldn’t have even been possible.  The Lord is truly in the business of leveraging technology to advance the Kingdom.  Praise God!

Three Reasons Why Facebook Rules and Myspace Drools

Facebook LogoIf you’re like me, you’ve doubtless been noticing how facebook is running away with the “I’m-popular-so- friend-me-and-delve-into- my-business-whenever-you-like” iGeneration social scene and leaving myspace in the dust. I must admit, I’m the most recent convert.

Here are three reasons why I’m running with arms wide open towards facebook, and leaving my south end pointing at myspace:

1) Praise God for standard profiles. One thing that annoys me above all others about myspace is the total lack of design awareness that goes into people’s profile choices. I mean, some of the color combinations and “myspace bling” makes me want to beat my face repeatedly against my desktop, to put it mildly. I know, I know. Everybody wants to be an individual. Here’s an idea: Why don’t you write something worth reading and distinguish yourself in that way? Worked for the Apostle Paul.

2) So far, no nude photos on my comments. I get about fifteen a day on myspace from people that I don’t even know, but Facebook seems to be populated mostly with real people who care that I’m a Christian and won’t put crap all over my “wall.” Thanks folks. I appreciate it.

3) Facebook for Pastors. Cynthia Ware turned me on to the e-book, but the facebook group is also pretty cool. If you’re a Pastor, and you’re not yet on facebook, you’re probably missing an opportunity to meet somebody that you might be able to influence for Jesus. That’s not to say that you can’t do the same thing on myspace, it’s just that facebook is easier for me to meet real people who want to know about Jesus.

Feel free to disagree with me, but Jesus loves facebook.

Christian Technology and Media Carnival: First Edition

CarnieWelcome to our new bi-weekly showcase of Christian Technology and Media Articles!  We’re so totally excited to put together some of the finest minds in the field of Christian Media and Technology, and we’re hoping to achieve the goal of the synergistic advancement the Kingdom of God through the strategic application of technology.

Now, I know that some of you didn’t actually submit your articles to this carnival.  That’s one of the growing pains associated with starting a new carnival: soliciting participation.  So I’ve gone out and selected a few good articles and some decent conversations on the net and added them into the mix.  Thanks for the understanding.

With no further ado, here’s the first edition of the Christian Technology and Media Carnival:

First on the list is Pastor Greg Pusateri with his article entitled, “The Florida Revival: Using Technology To Advance The Kingdom.” Pastor Greg explores the cool ways in which the ministers of the Lakeland Outpouring are leveraging technology to facilitate that move of the spirit.

Next, Cynthia Ware discusses the phenomenon of social networking and how it relates to the mission of the church in her article “The Social Web: Waste of Time or Killer Faith App?” Cynthia is one of the early adopters of the technology of blogging to the Kingdom, and we eagerly devour everything that she writes.  Check her out.

Ripechurch.com put out an article entitled “Technology in the Church.” It’s an interesting look at how technology ties in to the ultimate goal of reaching the masses for Christ.  I like his blog, and I’ve added it to my blogroll.  The writing on this site is concise, and to the point.  No nonsense here.

That’s it.  Next time, I hope that you’ll all submit something for consideration so I can stop hunting down good articles.  Thanks for reading, and please don’t mind the picture of the weird carnival people.  What’s a carnival without a carnie?
