Blogs Are The Devil, And You’re All Going to Hell!
May 4th, 2008 Categories: Christian Blogging Tips
Wow, I’ve been attacked. I received an email….from a Christian no less…..saying that all of this “technology” mumbo-jumbo is an affront to the Lord, and that we’re all going to hell for prioritizing technology over His kingdom.
Right.
I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first? If you’re a glass-half-empty kind of guy you’re probably saying, “give me the bad news dude.” I like the good news, so we’ll start there.
The good news: You most certainly will not end up in hell simply for utilizing technology, especially if your end game is the advancement of the Kingdom of God, as is ours. In fact, I tend to believe that the Lord smiles upon the innovative use of absolutely anything that results in the truth of Jesus Christ being spread throughout the Earth. On our other blog, we got a hit from Zimbabwe. Somebody read the gospel. Sure is easier than beating the bushes in Africa.
Some people are simple minded and trapped in the God-shaped-box of religion. Problem is, God doesn’t fit in the box. God doesn’t even acknowledge the box. God created the wood as a beautiful tree full of life, and these people chopped it down, sawed it up, nailed it together, and called it God. Although that may be entertaining, it’s not right. (No, I’m not an environmentalist, I’m just using hyperbole to make a point)
These are the same people who had a problem with the electric guitar and drums in Christian worship bands, and who now own 200 praise and worship CDs. These are the same folks who had a problem with anybody who showed up to church wearing jeans and a tee shirt and labeled them as “disrespectful of God.” I’m sure that after God is done reviving the nation through the tattooed, jean wearing freaks down at the Lakeland revival these same folks will be wearing board shorts and flip flops to church hoping to replicate that move of the spirit as well.
I take it all with a grain of salt. A hundred years ago, nobody could fathom using a television or a telephone to advance the Kingdom of God, and now you can hardly conduct church business without them. The same will eventually be true of internet technology.
The bad news: If you don’t accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will end up in hell. It has nothing to do with your using or failing to use technology, but rather with the condition of iniquity (your sinful nature). The solution? Get Jesus.
I tell you what, folks. If you don’t like the internet, don’t use it. I believe that it’s a great way to reach a segment of the population that desperately needs Jesus. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
