3 Powerful Church Blog Website Solutions for Any Budget

Mercedes Concept CarWordpress is a pretty adaptable platform upon which to build a great, interactive church website.  The question is, “How much should I spend on a Wordpress blog?”

I know the question well.  There are, in fact, a plethora of Wordpress options for you to utilize to build your Church Website/Blog.  I thought I might outline a few of them here:

1) A Wordpress.com blog with a stock theme.  This is where you go to wordpress.com and sign up, pick your blog address (a subdomain of wordpress.com), and pick a stock theme from the options available.  The good news is that the grand total for this blog is $0.  That’s right, absolutely free.  The bad news is that the functionality is somewhat limited, and the theme is not customizable.  You’re pretty much stuck with what you get, although you can change the theme at any time.

On some themes you will have the option to upload your own customized header.  If you don’t have the design skills to make something cool, contact us.  We can get you squared away with something nice for a very limited cost.  It’s a long way from a custom theme, but it’s nicer than the stock theme that everybody has. Think of this option as the “Geo Metro” if we’re comparing this thing to a car.

2) A Wordpress.org blog on your hosting account with a customized style sheet and header.  This is a good option if you want to spend several hundred and not several thousand dollars on your new blog.  Click here for an example of what this might look like when it’s finished.   You would need to purchase a hosting account (about $100 a year from Bluehost), and then we could upload the theme for you and customize the header and the style sheet to your preference.

This blog would have greater functionality than the wordpress.com blog, and it would be infinitely customizable if you cared to learn some CSS and PhP.   In addition, because the major coding and construction work is already done, we can really drive down the prices for the install and customization.  The bad news, of course, is that it’s still not a custom platform and you’re going to have to fork over some cash to get the custom functions that you want, unless you learn to code them yourself.  Of course, we’d be happy to help for a small fee.  This option would be the “Ford Taurus.”  It’s a nice, safe, middle of the road blog with decent performance.

3. A custom built Wordpress Theme designed to your specifications from the ground up.   This is the “Mercedes Benz” of blogs.  You get a custom platform designed to specification by one of our world class designers and implemented by our coding experts.  It will be beautiful, functional, and completely customized.  You can rest assured that nobody else on the internet will have anything that looks even remotely similar to what you’ve got.  How good are our designs?  Click here to check them out.

Am I just trying to sell my product?  Well, yeah.  That’s kind of the idea, isn’t it?  But truthfully a custom blog is probably over the top for some people.  We’ll help you determine what solution is right for you.  Just contact us and we can chat about your needs and see what we can do for you.
