Yes, I must admit my first comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek. But the words struck me so familiar that I couldn't resist :)

Still, I don't want to piss on your way of life, since it works for you and that's good enough. So long as you never become a fundamentalist, I'll never be at odds with you.

Wolter, I see where you're coming from. I don't really think it's going to do either of us any good to have a theological debate in this forum. I'd like to invite you again to correspond with me further via email. As for your situation, my prayer is as follows:

"Lord, I pray that you would appeal to Wolter in such a way that he can overcome the intellectual objections that he harbors to the truth of Jesus. I know that only you can break such deeply held bonds. Make it so, in Jesus name."

Yes, I know how it works. "Religion" in inner-circle talk is the observances and ritual (which I've always hated, and avoided like the plague), and relationship is actually communing, taking one-on-one with your god.
I had this personal relationship. But the fact is, when you can no longer play make-believe, all you're left with is a one-sided conversation, realizing that every answer you received was simply your own mind talking to itself.

I've since done a lot of study of various religions, and this sort of internalized belief is actually quite common. In fact, it's one of the tools that helped humanity get through its early years, and still helps millions of people today.

But it's a crutch, or training wheels if you will. While it can help you through rough times, it also hampers you and limits your thinking and morality to only what is contained within a holy book, to the detriment of humanity.

Ahhh...I see. Sounds symptomatic of one building their life upon a religion rather than a relationship with the Lord.

Wolter, I mean this as sincerely as possible. I'd like to personally apologize for any damage done to you by "Christians," and invite you to converse with me. I'll show you, from my own life, how I have a personal relationship with the Lord that defies any religious nonsense you've ever seen, and how Jesus desires a relationship with you. I mean that.

Already repented, accepted with all my heart, saw the inside, was disgusted and disillusioned after 8 years of this, left.

Very funny. You guys are quick. I pray that you will come into a relationship with the Lord so that you can turn that creativity into something useful.

As for Walter's comment that the truth of Jesus can't be verified, I dare you to pray the salvation prayer with a sincere heart and see if Jesus will make himself known to you. That is, of course, if you possess the intellectual honesty to genuinely repent.

It is difficult for me to blog in the Spirit if I don't have a burger and fries next to me. My apologetic engine needs fuel.

The first two go without saying.
However, the third one is not quite correct, since the truth of Jesus Christ cannot be verified.
