3 Secret Weapons of the Christian Blogger

Praying at ComputerA blog is a blog, right? Unless, of course, the Holy Spirit gets involved and boosts you to a new level of performance and exposure. Then what is a blog? A blog can be a Kingdom tool for advancing the agenda of God.

Some secular bloggers are going to read this post and have no idea what I’m talking about. These three items that I’m about to share with you are intangible to them, foolishness in fact. Of course, we know that God uses the foolish to confound the wise. It’s kind of His thing. Here are three supernatural weapons that the Christian blogger can use to grow readership, disciple readers, and advance the Kingdom:

1) Prayer. What? Pray about a blog? Yep. The Lord instructs us in the book of James chapter 4 verse 2 that “you have not because you do not ask.” Want more readers? Pray. Want to increase the impact of your writing? Pray. Want to turn readers into disciples? Pray. The world will never understand the power of simple prayer, but I believe that it’s an important tool for the Christian blogger.

2) Fasting. Wait, wait….you want me to fast over a blog. Yep. I hear so many Christian bloggers complaining of “writers block,” which to me sounds symptomatic of an anemic relationship with the Lord. If you will pray and fast over the content that you’re preparing for your Christian blog, you can be sure that your content will not only be stellar and on-time, but that it will reach its intended mark and have a lasting effect on the Kingdom.

3) The Word. Using scripture in a blog post is the equivalent of “firing for effect” for an artillery officer. You can’t state the purposes of the Lord more concisely than the Word of God, so just use the good stuff as often as possible. If you scare people off from your blog, at least you will have done so while sharing with them the truth of Jesus Christ.

Those are three secret weapons that every Christian blogger has in their employ to reach the masses via blog and online media. Are you using them? If not, why not?

There is a simple truth that pertains to both the spiritual and the natural: If you want to get something you’ve never had, you’ve got to do something you’ve never done. Prayer, fasting, and the application of the Word should be the norms in our life, not the exception.

Got Jesus?

The first two go without saying.
However, the third one is not quite correct, since the truth of Jesus Christ cannot be verified.

    LOL. Please, feel free.

It is difficult for me to blog in the Spirit if I don’t have a burger and fries next to me. My apologetic engine needs fuel.

  4. Jonathan Greene

Very funny. You guys are quick. I pray that you will come into a relationship with the Lord so that you can turn that creativity into something useful.

As for Walter’s comment that the truth of Jesus can’t be verified, I dare you to pray the salvation prayer with a sincere heart and see if Jesus will make himself known to you. That is, of course, if you possess the intellectual honesty to genuinely repent.

  5. Wolter

Already repented, accepted with all my heart, saw the inside, was disgusted and disillusioned after 8 years of this, left.

  6. Jonathan Greene

Ahhh…I see. Sounds symptomatic of one building their life upon a religion rather than a relationship with the Lord.

Wolter, I mean this as sincerely as possible. I’d like to personally apologize for any damage done to you by “Christians,” and invite you to converse with me. I’ll show you, from my own life, how I have a personal relationship with the Lord that defies any religious nonsense you’ve ever seen, and how Jesus desires a relationship with you. I mean that.

  7. Wolter

Yes, I know how it works. “Religion” in inner-circle talk is the observances and ritual (which I’ve always hated, and avoided like the plague), and relationship is actually communing, taking one-on-one with your god.
I had this personal relationship. But the fact is, when you can no longer play make-believe, all you’re left with is a one-sided conversation, realizing that every answer you received was simply your own mind talking to itself.

I’ve since done a lot of study of various religions, and this sort of internalized belief is actually quite common. In fact, it’s one of the tools that helped humanity get through its early years, and still helps millions of people today.

But it’s a crutch, or training wheels if you will. While it can help you through rough times, it also hampers you and limits your thinking and morality to only what is contained within a holy book, to the detriment of humanity.

Wolter, I see where you’re coming from. I don’t really think it’s going to do either of us any good to have a theological debate in this forum. I’d like to invite you again to correspond with me further via email. As for your situation, my prayer is as follows:

“Lord, I pray that you would appeal to Wolter in such a way that he can overcome the intellectual objections that he harbors to the truth of Jesus. I know that only you can break such deeply held bonds. Make it so, in Jesus name.”

  9. Wolter

Yes, I must admit my first comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek. But the words struck me so familiar that I couldn’t resist :)

Still, I don’t want to piss on your way of life, since it works for you and that’s good enough. So long as you never become a fundamentalist, I’ll never be at odds with you.

  10. Jonathan Greene

    Deal.
